SURVEY ISSUES

While cloud computing popularity and benefits continue to grow, recent survey shows that many business owners are gradually becoming skeptical of security issues especially with data security, privacy and integrity in the cloud. For instance in a survey conducted about data security and privacy in the cloud, it was discovered that the risk of cloud computing far outweighed its benefit for so many reason. Out of the 50 people surveyed 30 people agreed that the adoption of cloud is very risky especially in its introductory stage for small business owners. They believe not much attention is place on data privacy due to differences in geography and law that govern data privacy in other countries such as China, therefore data could be compromised which could cripple a whole organization. In a related survey conducted by Rolling Meadows, the IT security governance organization that administer security certification, (ISCA) “1800 US based IT professional, 48% said Software as a Service (SAAS) and cloud computing risks outweighed the benefit. By contrast, 55% said the risk are either appropriately balance or outweighed the benefit”. Security expert argue cloud services such as Google Apps, Amazon Web Services have become enterprise option, but there are also questions about privacy, data security and industry standards. In spite of all this, of the increased importance of data security, the attention that cloud providers lay to data security is very insignificant.
